Greer Shifters Name Rich Fazio General Manager
Greer, SC — The Greer Shifters are proud to announce Rich Fazio as the organization’s General Manager, bringing a wealth of playing, coaching, and leadership experience to the franchise as it prepares for its inaugural season.
Fazio steps into the role with a clear vision of building a premier collegiate summer program rooted in excellence, development, and community connection.
“The opportunity to build an elite collegiate culture from the ground up is what drives me,” said Fazio. “As a first-year team, we have a clean slate, and we’re filling it with high-caliber NCAA talent. Leading an organization that serves as a premier summer home for collegiate athletes is exactly the kind of high-stakes environment I thrive on.”
Fans in Greer can expect a dynamic blend of high-level baseball and an engaging ballpark experience. “You’re going to see a professional standard of baseball on the field and family fun in the stands,” Fazio said. “We’re bringing in players who are chasing the next level, so the game will be faster and more intense. At the same time, we’re creating a family-friendly environment with promotions every night, fast-paced, affordable entertainment where fans can see future stars up close.”
Fazio’s connection to the Upstate baseball scene made this opportunity a natural fit. “I’ve spent years on the dirt here, playing for and managing teams like the Greer Spiders, Greer A’s, and Greenville Pioneers,” he said. “I understand the pulse of baseball in this community. The Shifters gave me the chance to take that experience and build something at a higher level, an organization focused on leadership, sportsmanship, and meaningful connections.”
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Fazio developed his competitive edge early. A graduate of Lincoln High School, he served as captain of both the wrestling and baseball teams and helped lead his team to a 14-1 record and a semifinal run during his senior season, just one win shy of playing at Yankee Stadium.
Since then, Fazio has carried that winning mentality throughout his career, earning championships as both a player and manager across the Upstate. Now, he looks to bring that same standard to the Greer Shifters.
“I’m excited to continue that tradition of winning while establishing a new culture where player development and community engagement are at the heart of everything we do,” he said.
With his deep ties to the region, proven leadership, and passion for the game, Fazio is poised to lead the Greer Shifters into an exciting inaugural season.
The Shifters look forward to building a program that combines elite-level baseball with a strong connection to the Greer community.
