Greer Shifters call Greer, SC Home!

Greer, SC — March 5, 2026

The Players League is expanding into the Palmetto State, bringing collegiate summer baseball to fans and players through the Palmetto State League. The town of Greer will be home to the Greer Shifters and compete in the Palmetto State League.

Founded in 2023, The Players League has grown into a respected organization in collegiate summer baseball. Its flagship league, the Old North State League, is based in North Carolina and features 24 teams across four divisions. The league has consistently attracted top collegiate talent from across the country, with more than ten former players advancing to professional baseball in 2025 alone.

Through the Palmetto State League, we’re bringing high-level college talent and a true family-focused ballpark experience to town, and we believe the Greer Shifters will become a staple of Greer summers for years to come.” said Alec Allred, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Players League.

The Greer Shifters will play their home games at Greer High School and are set to begin their inaugural season in June, with playoffs scheduled for late July and early August. As a collegiate summer wood-bat team, the Shifters will provide high-level competition while offering affordable, family-friendly entertainment throughout the summer.

“Greer is a tremendous addition to the Palmetto State League. From day one, it was clear that this community values athletics and understands the impact baseball can have in bringing people together. I’m excited to see Greer embrace its team and provide a first-class summer experience for both our players and fans.” said John Nester, Commissioner, Palmetto State League.

The roster will feature top collegiate players from across the country, bringing an exciting brand of baseball to Greer. In addition to on-field action, fans can look forward to themed game nights, community events, youth engagement initiatives, and local partnerships—making Shifters games a complete entertainment experience.
