Greer Shifters Announce Jonathan Overton as Head Coach for Inaugural Season

Greer, SC — The Greer Shifters are proud to announce Jonathan Overton as Head Coach for the team’s inaugural season. Overton brings a strong background in collegiate baseball and a passion for mentoring young athletes both on and off the field.

A native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Overton currently serves as a Graduate Assistant and Head Development Coach for the varsity baseball program at Southern Wesleyan University. He earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and is completing his MBA. As a player, he spent two years at USC Union and two years at Southern Wesleyan, gaining valuable experience at the collegiate level.

“I’m thrilled to represent the Shifters and the Greer community,” Overton said. “As a young coach, this opportunity is an important step in my growth. I’m excited to work with these talented young men throughout the summer and help grow the Shifters’ presence in the community.”

Success for the team will be measured not just by wins, but by player development and enjoyment of the game. “[My goal is] for each player to leave as a better ballplayer and person than when they arrived,” he said. “Summer baseball is a special experience, and I want this team to create lasting memories while competing every day.”

Overton is equally focused on community impact. “I want this team to be a positive presence in Greer, inspiring young athletes and showing them that playing college baseball is an attainable goal,” he said. “We will play with effort, discipline, and competitiveness, and be a team the community can support and take pride in.”
